The Purpose

The crown dancers responsibilities during the coming of age ceremony is to guide the maiden through the night and make sure she does not get lost. They want to ensure she stays on the white path of a protected life. The prayers that are sung protect not only the girl, but the whole community. 

The crown dancers also dance and sing to take evil spirits and illness away from a person. The crown dancers will dance harder to ensure the negative energy does not enter them, but moves on. Younger dancers are more common nowadays, because they are stronger and can endure more.
